Projects
To date, we have planted 100,000+ trees with 600+ smallholder farmers.
This equates to a reduction of 2000 CO2e tons - farmers will earn an additional $25 for maintaining their trees.
Agroforestry in Semi-Arid Areas
GECA has targeted several semi-arid areas to work with farmers most at risk from climate change. We promote the use of drought-resistance indigenous trees. This project in particular plants endangered trees - the African Olive and Melia Volkensii.
Agroforestry to Improve Degraded Farms
GECA works with farmers in commodity agricultural supply chains like coffee and croton whose farms are degraded from over-farming and use of unsustainable agricultural practices. These farmers receive training and plant trees to organically improve the quality of their soil as well as improve their farm yields.
