What We Do
Green Earth Climate Action was founded in 2019 in response to needed innovations and interventions for the growing climate crisis.
Deforestation, changes in land-use and nature-based global supply chains account for 40% of GHG emissions annually due to a growing and interconnected population. Yet, existing supply chains in the developing world provide unique opportunities to cultivate projects that reduce CO2e emissions while simultaneously creating income-generating opportunities for smallholder farmers engaged in sustainable climate-smart agroforestry practices. Creating these smallholder-oriented projects that incorporate the carbon markets have the potential to incentivize practices that overcome common barriers to agricultural productivity in rural communities while simultaneously conserving the environment.
Our mission.
GECA connects sustainable agriculture systems to international carbon markets for a carbon-neutral society. We work with farmers in established agricultural supply chains to engage in agroforestry that improves their farm and increases farm yields while monetarily incentivizing them to engage in sustainable and climate-smart practices.
Our model.
1) We conduct outreach with interested farmer groups and cooperatives and register them in carbon offsets projects.
2) We engage in sustainable agroforestry trainings where farmers request seedlings that will grow well based on their climatic considerations and cash crops.
3) We work with local nurseries to distribute seedlings to enrolled farmers.
4) We conduct on-farm site visits during bi-annual tree monitoring.
5) Farmers receive additional income for each year the trees grow and they see 30% increases in their farm yields from replenished soils.

Environmental services
All GECA staff are IEMA certified carbon footprint analysts. We work with partners and clients to conduct carbon footprint assessments and develop strategies to mitigate GHG emissions.
