2021 Short Rains Tree Monitoring

As we approach the end of the year, we are preparing to give out our annual tree growing bonus to our farmers for maintaining the seedlings and practicing good agroforestry practices. The team has been out in the field in October and November monitoring the trees that were planted at the end of 2020 and we were so impressed with how well the farmers have cared for the seedlings! After only a year a growth, the majority of seedling are close to 2 meter tall and we have a survival rate of 75% which we were very excited about given the inconsistent rains and drought conditions of 2021. In addition to the new farmers we added in 2021, the farmers that were part of our inaugural groups of tree growers in 2020 planted an additional 5,000 seedlings in 2021!
